The story of Than Tho lake

Beside that there are many stories of Than Tho lake is transmitted and the oldest story is Hoang Tung - Mai Nuong.

In the Tay Son dynasty, before leaving the battle, Hoang Tung led Mai Nuong to the lake for dating, and he told her that after winning the battle will return. But then She had heard the news that Hoang Tung sacrificed information, Mai Nuong jump himself into the lake still. Later, the Tay Son dynasty collapsed, the Nguyen revenge the people participating in the Tay Son, Hoang Tung run to the lake and also jumped into the lake. From then on, the lake is called Than Tho lake.

Than Tho Lake

After 1975, there was a time when Than Tho Lake was renamed to Suong Mai Lake, but for local people, when calling this lake, they still called Tho Than instead of calling Suong Mai. Therefore, since 1990, the city government has restored the former name of Than Tho Lake.

On August 31, 1998, Than Tho Lake was recognized as a historical-cultural vestige.
