The surrounding market and the area created a very vibrant center of city life at that time. In 1937, a large fire occurred, burning the market with shops around. Then, Ambassador Lucien Auger rebuilt the new brick market, meeting the demand of selling and buying of more than 6,500 people. Da Lat Market was once considered as a symbol of the highland city. The market has become a symbol of Da Lat, a familiar image in memories of people who have yearly lived here.
