Overview of Xuan Huong Lake in Da Lat


Xuan Huong Lake is 32 hectares width, with an average depth of 1.5m, located at an altitude of 1478m, is considered the heart of Da Lat city.

History of the lake
In the past, this area was a wetland for weaving mat trees and rice fields which belonged to the Lach people who lived along the Lach stream (now known as Camly stream).

In 1919, at the initiative of Cunhac an official at that time, in the construction program of Dalat, Labbé's civil engineer built a dam from Thuy Ta to near the intersection of Ba Huyen Thanh Quan, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Bui Thi Xuan. , Dinh Tien Hoang street that forming a lake. The French call this lake Grand Lac (Large Lake).

In 1921-1922, under the command of Garnier, the dam was raised and extended.

Since 1953, the name Grand Lac was converted to Xuan Huong Lake. This is the first landscape in Lam Dong province which was recognized as a national monument on November 6, 1988.
